Mobility Scooter – Car or Pedestrian?

St. Albert, Alberta – The St. Albert Traffic Services want to ensure users of the St. Albert roadways understand how we share our roadways with persons operating mobility scooters or motorized wheelchairs.

By definition, a mobility scooter is a device used to transport, in a forward seated position, a person with a physical disability. Individuals operating these scooters are afforded the same rights and privileges of a pedestrian. In turn, all rules that apply to pedestrians also apply to users.

As motorists and pedestrian alike, we all play a role in keeping our city roadways and sidewalks safe.
