Wood Buffalo RCMP Conduct Drug Seizure During Check Stop

Fort McMurray, Alberta – On November 23rd, at approximately 1:30 am, Wood Buffalo RCMP conducted a check stop in Fort McMurray. During the check stop, two males from one vehicle were arrested for drug possession. During the vehicle search, RCMP members seized 228 prescription pills, approximately 8 grams of marihuana “shatter”, and $10,720.00 cash. The pills included, but were not limited to: Tylenol 4, percacet’s, and mogadon’s.

Robert Cardinal,a 38 year old man with no fixed address, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00. Cardinal has been released on his own Recognizance, and will appear in court on December 13th, 2016.

Samual Cardinal, 30 year old man with no fixed address,was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00, and obstructing a peace officer. Cardinal has been released on his own Recognizance, and will appear in court on December 13th, 2016.

The check stop also resulted in members issuing two 24 hour suspensions, and six additional violation tickets.
