Athabasca RCMP Investigate Shots Fired; Male Receives Head Injury

Calling Lake, Alberta – On November 26, 2016, at approximately 2:30 AM, the Athabasca RCMP responded to a report of gun shots being heard on the Jean Baptiste Gambler First Nations Reserve. A 25 year old male received an injury to his head during the incident. A small, possibly red, possibly 4 door car was seen in the area of the incident but has yet to be located.

At the time of the incident, the male victim was sitting parked in his vehicle in a driveway off of the main road when his vehicle was shot at. The victim was able to drive to the local residence and call for assistance. The victim was taken by EHS and flown to Edmonton to receive medical treatment and has since been returned to Athabasca to recover.

Athabasca RCMP conducted extensive patrols in the community and door to door inquiries but were not able to locate the suspect vehicle or suspect(s).
