Grande Prairie RCMP Charge Male Following Search Warrant and Drug Seizure

Grande Prairie, Alberta: On Wednesday, November 23, 2016 RCMP members from the Grande Prairie General Investigation Section attended a residence in Country Side South to execute a search warrant.

The initiative was a follow-up to a recent drug project that concluded in July of 2016 where six individuals were charged with trafficking fentanyl. Police initiated this most recent investigation into trafficking fentanyl in October. During the execution of the warrant police seized $9,000 cash, a stolen handgun loaded with ammunition, 56 grams of crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, marihuana and over two thousand fentanyl pills.

Three individuals were arrested and Abdulmalik HASSEN (47) of Grande Prairie has been charged with four different offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and five Criminal Code offences in relation to the stolen firearm. He was released on $13,000 cash bail and will appear in court in Grande Prairie on December 7, 2016.
