Slave Lake, Alberta – On November 26, 2016 at approximately 9:40 pm, Slave Lake RCMP received a complaint of an overdue hunter in the Fawcett Lake area, south east of Slave Lake.
A 32 year old Edmonton man was hunting alone and failed to meet up with the rest of his party as planned. Initial efforts to locate the male were negative and the RCMP were called. The man was described as an experienced hunter, but unfamiliar with this particular area. The Slave Lake Detachment, RCMP Police Dog Services , along with the Lesser Slave Lake Search and Rescue were engaged through the night, until the search was suspended.
As the search was resuming on the following morning, the missing hunter was located. He spent the night in the bush, and come daylight was able to make his way to a road where a passer by transported him to police. The hunter was not injured as a result of the experience.
