Joint Police Operation Leads to Arrest of Drug Trafficker

Sidney, BC – On November 25, 2016, a joint investigation was conducted into street level drug trafficking by the Sidney North Saanich RCMP – General Investigation Section, and Saanich Police Department Street Crime Unit.

The joint investigation culminated in the arrest of a 23 year old male Saanich resident who is now facing charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Approximately six ounces of cocaine, bagged for street level sales, were recovered from the male’s vehicle following his arrest. A Search Warrant was subsequently executed at a home in the 3800 block of Carey Road, Saanich which resulted in one female being arrested. The related search of the residence also turned up a replica handgun.

The female has since been released from custody without charge. The male will be appearing in Victoria Provincial Court to face proposed charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking in March of 2017.

Street value of the drugs is seized during this operation total approximately $13,000.

Sidney/North Saanich RCMP continue to partner with other Police Agencies throughout the Capital Regional District in order to target those offenders whose criminal activities often span multiple jurisdictions.
