Fuel Tanker Collision on Alberta Highway 43 North of Highway 663

Stony Plain, Alberta – At approximately 5:50 am the Spruce Grove/Stony Plain RCMP were called to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 43 just north of Highway 633. A fuel tanker went off the road and entered the east ditch. As a result northbound traffic on Highway 43 has been restricted and is currently being rerouted.

The tanker truck was transporting diesel, premium and regular fuel. Fuel has leaked from the truck however there is no risk to the public at this time. Lac St. Anne Fire Services and police are on scene and Alberta Environment has been notified.

Police advise that traffic in the area will be affected for the next several hours and are asking motorists to avoid the area.

The male driver and lone occupant of the truck was taken by ambulance to hospital for treatment of minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved.

The cause of the collision is not yet known. All possible factors are being considered and an investigation is ongoing.
