Strathcona County RCMP investigate serious pedestrian collision – UPDATED

Sherwood Park, AlbertaThe 26 year old pedestrian has died from the injuries sustained in this collision.   Investigation continues and the RCMP are asking for anyone with information relating to this incident to contact the Strathcona County RCMP.


Sherwood Park, Alberta – On January 28, 2017 at approximately 7:30 p.m Strathcona County RCMP were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 21 involving a pedestrian. The male pedestrian had been walking in the southbound lane of Highway 21 when he was struck by a southbound Hyundai Accent.

As a result of the collision, the pedestrian suffered critical life threatening injuries. He is presently being treated at an area hospital.

Traffic on Highway 21 near Township Road 542 was rerouted for several hours while the investigation took place. The scene has since been cleared and is now open to through traffic.

Investigation into this matter is ongoing. Anyone with information relating to this incident is encouraged to contact the Strathcona County RCMP.

The ages of the involved parties will not be released at this time.
