Wood Buffalo RCMP Request Assistance Identifying a Credit Card Fraud Suspect – ARRESTED

Fort McMurray, Alberta – (Mar. 16 Update) The Wood Buffalo RCMP would like to thank the public for their assistance in identifying a suspect who had been fraudulently using credit cards.

On February 13th, 2017, police were able to arrest and charge Zai Tekie with the following offences:

  • Fraud under $5,000.00
  • Possession of property obtained by crime, under $5,000.00
  • Possession of a controlled substance – marihuana

Tekie’s next court appearance is April 26th, 2017, in Fort McMurray.


Fort McMurray, Alberta – On Friday, January 20th, 2017, a credit card that had been lost or stolen in Fort McMurray, was used at two different local stores.

At 2:00 am it was used at the Mac’s on Loutit Road.

At 2:15 am it was used at the Petro Can on Prospect Drive.

The suspect is described as:

  • A Black male
  • Approximately 5’8″
  • Slim build
  • Brown eyes
  • Wearing a green winter coat with a fur lined hood
