Winnipeg male youth suffers from a gunshot wound to his lower body

Winnipeg, Manitoba – At approximately 9:10 p.m. on February 16, 2017 Winnipeg Police and Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services responded to an incident in the area of Furby Street and Ellice Avenue.

Upon arriving officers located a male youth who was suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition. He remains in non-life-threatening condition.

The investigation determined that a group was confronted by a male suspect and robbed of personal items. During the robbery the suspect produced a gun and one of the male youths was shot. The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival.

Due to an armed suspect having fled the scene, the Tactical Support Team and the AVR-1 were deployed.
