High Level RCMP Investigate a Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision Near Paddle Prairie on Highway 35

Paddle Prairie, Alberta – On February 21, 2017 shortly after 0800hrs High Level RCMP, High Level Fire, and EMS responded to a semi vs passenger car head-on Motor Vehicle Collision on Highway 35, approximately 15 kms south of Paddle Prairie Alberta. The lone 36 year old male occupant of the passenger car was pronounced deceased at scene. The lone occupant of the Semi was unharmed.

An RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene to assist with the investigation. Road and weather conditions did not appear to play a role, and investigation revealed that the passenger car crossed the center line into the oncoming lane. No charges are being considered against the Semi driver.

Although the highway was blocked for approximately an hour as a result of the collision, the Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement was able to create a detour through an adjacent field using heavy equipment.

The identification of the deceased is not being released pending Next of Kin notifications.

Paddle Prairie is 710 kms north of Edmonton, Alberta.
