Search Warrant North of Grimshaw, Alberta Results in Arrests

Grimshaw, Alberta – RCMP have made an arrest in relation to a search warrant that was executed at a rural residence north of Grimshaw, Alberta earlier this afternoon on March 1st, 2017.

The investigation was started when the Peace Regional RCMP, were patrolling and initiated a traffic stop where the vehicle originated from the aforementioned residence. The driver was arrested at the traffic stop and illicit drugs found in the vehicle. The driver was also found to be currently bound by conditions of release in relation to a criminal investigation originating out of Grande Prairie, Alta.

After further investigation a search warrant was obtained and executed at the residence. Police located and seized a small quantity of methamphetamine, 3 high capacity prohibited firearm magazines, an insecure rifle, and a sawed off prohibited rifle. Police also located paraphernalia related to drug trafficking.

Police are continuing the investigation and charges against the 19 year old female driver of Grimshaw, Alberta are pending for the items seized as well as the breaches of recognizance.

“This is good police work, that has removed a sawed off prohibited weapon from the community ”, says Staff Sergeant Brent Meyer, Detachment Commander of Peace Regional RCMP.
