Fort McMurray, Alberta – On Tuesday, February 28th, 2017, Wood Buffalo RCMP stopped a robbery in progress, resulting in one male youth being charged.
At 10:30 pm Would Buffalo General Investigation Section members were in the area of Confederation Way and Millennium Drive, making patrols in an unmarked police vehicle. The officers observed two males attack another male. The police stopped the assault and tended to the victim, who was not seriously injured. The victim advised that the two males had been robbing him. Members of the Wood Buffalo Strike Team located one suspect a short distance away. While the suspect was being arrested, he assaulted an officer, and later assaulted another officer. A description of the second suspect is not available.
A 16 year old male from Fort McKay, who can not be named as he is a youth, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Assault Police Officer (x2)
- Resist Police Officer
- Mischief Under $5,000.00 (x2)
- Fail to Comply With Conditions (x7)
The youth’s first court date is March 7th, 2017, in Fort McMurray.
