On March 6, 2017, at approximately 5:00 a.m., police were dispatched to a house on Leopold Crescent for a report of a Break and Enter in progress. The homeowners called 9-1-1 saying their house had been broken into by someone who broke a window on the back door and then grabbed a set of car keys and other items from the house. The complainants watched as the suspect took their car, a white, Acura MDX. Initial investigation pointed to a suspect known to the victims. Different officers spotted the vehicle a few times in the city, driving at high speeds. At one point, police pulled up behind the Acura at a red light, exited their car and approached the suspect vehicle, but it accelerated through the red light and fled. The Acura was last seen leaving Regina on Highway 11 northbound, travelling at an estimated 120 km/hour. The Regina Police Service notified other police agencies of the circumstances and shared the vehicle information. Later in the day, Regina Police Service investigators were notified that the suspect had been arrested, at about 1:15 p.m., by RCMP near Meadow Lake. The vehicle has been recovered.

The 29 year-old suspect will be returned to Regina on Friday, March 10th, to face the charges associated to the Break and Enter and Commit Theft, Possession of Stolen Property and Dangerous Driving. Investigation into this matter is ongoing.
