Winnipeg Police Investigate Death of 21-Year-Old Female – UPDATE – Victim Identified

Winnipeg, Manitoba – On March 12, 2017, at approximately 10:10 p.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a report of a gunshot heard in the 200 block of Spence Street.

Responding officers located a female outside a residence who sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of being shot. Shania Chanel CHARTRAND, 21 years old of Winnipeg was conveyed to hospital and later pronounced deceased.

BACKGROUND:

On March 12, 2017, at approximately 10:10 p.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a report of a gunshot heard in the 200 block of Spence Street.

Responding officers located an adult female victim outside a residence who sustained life-threatening injuries, and appears to have been shot. The 21-year old victim was conveyed to hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Investigators are looking for anyone who may information regarding this incident or who may have been in the area at the time.
