Residential fire on Peak Point Dr in West Kelowna deemed suspicious

West Kelowna, BC – The West Kelowna RCMP and West Kelowna Fire Dept. are currently investigating a residential fire, on Peak Point Dr, which occurred overnight on Sunday morning.

At approximately 02:00 am, March 26, 2017, the West Kelowna RCMP received a request to assist the West Kelowna Fire Department with a structure fire occurring at a home on Peak Point Dr in West Kelowna.

No one was injured as a result of the fire. The blaze is being treated as suspicious and an arson investigation has commenced. The West Kelowna RCMP’s arson investigator and the Forensic Identification section is working alongside The West Kelowna Fire Department to determine the cause of the blaze. It does appear from the initial investigation that this was a targeted incident.

Saskatoon Police and the Saskatoon Fire Department have cleared the scene of a suspicious package this morning. Members of the SFD Hazardous Materials Unit determined that the envelope contained powder that is not hazardous. Traffic restrictions have been lifted. Detectives with the SPS Targeted Enforcement Unit will be investigating.
