St. Albert, Alberta – On Sunday, March 26, 2017 just before 7:00 a.m., St. Albert RCMP received a report of an armed robbery at the 7 Eleven store on St. Anne Street and St. Albert Road in St. Albert, AB. Two male suspects, who were alleged to have a knife and handgun had fled the store in a dark coloured 4 door pickup truck.
While RCMP were investigating this crime, they received a report of a suspicious, dark coloured truck in the Akinsdale area of the city. This report was closely followed by a second report that two males were pointing a firearm at a passing motorist in the same area. A moment later, RCMP responded to a third report that the Akinsdale 7 Eleven store was being robbed by two males with a knife.
As RCMP arrived at the Akinsdale 7 Eleven store, one male, with his face covered by a bandana, and another male, with his jacket hood obscuring his features, were observed running out of the store. Both male suspects were arrested without incident.
A 17 year old male resident of St. Albert has been released into the custody of his parents and is now facing Robbery charges.
A 16 year old male resident of St. Albert has been released into the custody of his parents and is now facing Robbery, Wearing a Disguise in the Commission of an Offence, Uttering Threats, Mischief and Possession of Weapon charges.
In compliance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, neither youth can be identified. Court is set for April 4, 2017 in St. Albert court.
