Wildwood, Alberta – On April 12, 2017 Evansburg RCMP were called to assist a Yellowhead County Peace Officer with a traffic stop. The investigation discovered several hundred metres of copper wire in the rear of the suspect’s pickup truck.
Lawrence Lambert Rehn, age 44 of Wildwood is charged as follows:
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, s.354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
- Breach of recognizance (x3), s.145(3) of the Criminal Code.
- Possession of a controlled substance, s.4(1) of the Controlled Drugs & Substances Act.
Rehn has been released to appear in court on April 24 in Evansburg Provincial Court.
The RCMP in Alberta is working with private industry, municipal policing partners and government agencies on initiatives aimed at preventing and addressing copper wire theft.
