Male Arrested After Attempt to Cash Stolen Cheque in Prince Albert

Prince Albert, Saskatchewan – On Monday, April 17, at 5:21 p.m. patrol members were dispatched to CIBC on Central Avenue on the report of a male allegedly attempting to cash a stolen cheque.

The cashier recognized that the cheques had been reported stolen by the complainant and called police when a male tried to cash the cheque under a different name.

A 26-year-old male is charged with having in his possession property (a cheque) not exceeding $5,000 knowing that all or part of the property was obtained or derived as a result of an offense punishable by indictment, knowingly use a forged document, a cheque as if it were genuine, did attempt by deceit, falsehood or other fraudulent means to try and defraud CIBC of money (Information 991009102).
