Jasper RCMP Arrests Three After High Risk Vehicle Stop

Jasper, Alberta – On April 23, 2017 at approximately 9:30 P.M. while responding to a multiple vehicle collision on Highway 16, Jasper RCMP received a call for a possible impaired driver heading towards the collision scene.


Police located the suspect vehicle on Highway 16 near the town of Jasper and initiated a traffic stop but the vehicle sped away and fled the scene.

A few minutes later, RCMP officers located the same vehicle near the collision scene. Police blocked the suspect vehicle and conducted a high risk vehicle stop. All three male occupants surrendered and were taken into custody without further incident.

As a result of this investigation, the following two males have been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada:

Jared Miles SCHOENDORFER, age 23, was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle while disqualified, dangerous driving and obstructing a police officer.

Landyn Darren POMERANZ, age 23, was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

Billy Joseph SANDERSON, age 23, as well as POMERANZ and SCHOENDORFER, were charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act for possession of a controlled substance.

All three are set to appear at the Jasper Provincial Court on June 8, 2017.
