Male stabbed during robbery in Nanaimo, B.C.

Nanaimo, BC – At approximately 11 am on Sunday April 23rd a Nanaimo man was robbed of his personal effects and during the altercation received a non-life threatening stab wound. The suspect male was not apprehended and fled immediately afterwards. The victim attended to local hospital where he was treated for his injury then released.

The victim, in his mid- 40’s, told police he was walking along a pathway located behind Chapters on Mary Ellen Drive in north Nanaimo when an unknown male approached from the opposite direction. No words were exchanged between the two and as the suspect passed by, the victim felt a pull at his back pack. The male victim attempted to prevent the theft and in doing so was stabbed with an unknown edged weapon. The suspect fled with the victims back pack and jacket. Officers along with a Police Services Dog attended but were unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as follows:

  • First Nations male, early 30’s
  • 5 ft. 6, short spiked black hair
  • green sunglasses, blue hoody and jeans
