Jasper RCMP Evacuates High School After Bear Spray Incident

Jasper, Alberta – On April 28th, 2017 at approximately 11:00 AM, Jasper RCMP attended the Jasper Junior Senior High School to assist the Jasper Volunteer Fire Brigade with an evacuation due to a possible gas leak.

During the course of their investigation, RCMP officers discovered that a can of bear spray had been discharged inside a locker room, causing the students and school personnel to think there had been a gas leak.

Police were able to locate and arrest a suspect. The 18 year old male from Jasper has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with one count of mischief under $5000 and one count of failing to comply with a probation order.

To protect the identity of all the youths involved in this investigation, RCMP will not be releasing any names.
