Homicide Investigation Underway in Regina Following Death of 46-Year-Old Male

Regina, Saskatchewan – On the evening of May 14, 2017, at approximately 7:55 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence on the 1400 block of 12th Avenue for the report of an assault. Information received was that an assailant had entered the home and assaulted a resident with a weapon, then left the scene.

Police attended to the residence and found an injured and unresponsive male. EMS arrived and despite the efforts of police and EMS the male succumbed to injury. The area was cleared for investigation once police were notified that the victim was deceased. Police secured the scene and requested the Coroner. Other investigative units were requested, including Major Crimes and Forensic Identification.

The victim has been identified as a 46 year-old Regina male, however next of kin notification is still underway.

This is the second homicide of Regina in 2017. At this early stage in the investigation, there are no other details available for release; however, police are reminding the public that anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Regina Police Service at 307-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).

The Regina Police Service is now able to release the identity of the victim of a homicide that occurred in the evening of May 14, 2017. The victim is 46 year-old Rodney James NIPPI, DOB: 1970-10-28, of Regina. The family of Rodney NIPPI has been notified of his death.

Police continue to investigate, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner. This is the second homicide in Regina in 2017. At this stage, there has not yet been anyone charged in connection with this homicide.
