Prince Albert, Saskatchewan – On Sunday, May 14, 2017 at 9:54 p.m. Prince Albert Police Service were dispatched to a gas station on Marquis Road on reports that a vehicle was there had stolen gas on several previous occasions. The vehicle also matched the description of a stolen vehicle that the Prince Albert Police Service was dispatched to at 3:07 p.m. earlier that day. A pursuit was initiated and then was called off immediately on Marquis Road by police earlier that day due to high rates of speeds and concern for public safety.
A patrol vehicle containment was set up surrounding the stolen vehicle in the gas station parking lot. Sirens and lights were initiated. The stolen vehicle then attempted to back into a patrol car, causing vehicle damage.
The vehicle was revving its engine giving appearance of further trying to break the containment. Patrol members exited their vehicle and approached the passenger and drivers side of the vehicle with firearms drawn and commanding the driver to surrender and exit the vehicle. The driver did not comply and an officer broke the vehicle’s driver side glass window with a baton and re-issued the command with firearm still engaged.
The driver and two passengers surrendered and exited the vehicle and were arrested.
A search was conducted of the vehicle. A pellet rifle was located.
A 14-year-old male youth from Prince Albert was arrested with six charges: for having in his possession a stolen vehicle exceeding $5,000, operating a motor vehicle while being pursued in an attempt to evade a peace officer, assaulting an officer with intent to resist lawful arrest, operating a motor vehicle in a manner dangerous to the public, stealing gas (not exceeding $5,000), being at large on his undertaking and to comply with keeping the peace and being of good behaviour (Information #991012200).
A 15-year-old male youth from Prince Albert have in his possession a stolen vehicle exceeding $5,000 and stealing gas (not exceeding $5,000). (Information #991012204).
