Body of missing Whitehorse man recovered in Yukon River

Whitehorse, Yukon – Whitehorse RCMP have recovered the body of 36-year-old Rafe Clayton Hepner, who was reported missing from Whitehorse earlier this month.

Mr. Hepner was last seen in the Whitehorse area on April 13th, 2017 and was reported missing to RCMP on May 8th. Despite numerous investigative avenues pursued by officers over the past two weeks, attempts made to locate Mr. Hepner were not successful.

On the afternoon of May 26th, 2017, Whitehorse RCMP received a report that a body had been located in the Yukon River, north of downtown Whitehorse.

Investigators from Whitehorse detachment and the Yukon Coroner’s Service attended the area and recovered the body. The body was later identified as 36-year-old Rafe Clayton Hepner of Whitehorse.

Foul play is not suspected. This matter will continue to be investigated by the Yukon Coroner’s Service.
