Lethbridge Police investigating late night pedestrian collision

Lethbridge, Alberta – Lethbridge Police are investigating a collision where a male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle late Monday night.

On May 29, 2017 just after 11 p.m. police responded to a pedestrian collision at the intersection of Mayor Magrath Drive and 12 Avenue South after a southbound Cadillac SUV struck a man who was crossing Mayor Magrath Drive. The man sustained serious head injuries and was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition. He was subsequently transferred by STARS to Calgary. The driver of the SUV was not injured.

Investigation determined the male was crossing on a Do Not Walk signal and the SUV had been proceeding through a green light. Speed and alcohol were ruled out in relation to the driver, however there is evidence to suggest the pedestrian had been drinking.

Charges are not anticipated.
