Saskatoon Man Charged After Disobeying Signage For Street Sweeping

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – A 76-year-old man has been charged after he disobeyed road signage and drove into oncoming traffic last night while street sweepers were working.

Shortly after 10:00 p.m., May 29, 2017, Police had closed Sid Buckwold Bridge to assist City crews when they observed a van disobey signage and drive into oncoming lanes of traffic. The suspect also refused to stop for Police who eventually attempted to slow the vehicle by getting in front of it. At that point, the suspect rear-ended the Patrol cruiser. When approached by Officers, the driver attempted to leave by putting the vehicle in reverse.

The driver eventually stopped but did not comply with instructions to exit the vehicle. He was eventually taken into custody and charged with Obstruction. He will appear in court on June 21, 2017. (Court Info # 991013746).

Police would like to remind motorists to obey road signage and Police direction as street sweeping efforts continue.
