Medicine Hat, Alberta – Effective immediately the Medicine Hat Police Service will be implementing an electronic ticket system for parking offences.
The in house solution, developed by MHPS staff, offers a more efficient method of ticket entry and processing for violation tickets, as it allows staff to enter all relevant information about the parking violation into a cell phone app, which automatically fills in the ticket and is then printed via a hand-held printer. The new system also has the ability to collect GPS data and includes the option of attaching a photo.
The information entered is uploaded to a centralized database and eliminates the need for additional manual data entry by clerical staff. In addition to the convenience and efficiency, the new system will allow for improved analysis and quick retrieval of parking violation data, which may further streamline day-to-day monitoring.
As a convenience to the community, the new system includes an online appeal process, saving drivers from having to attend the police station.
In connection with the new system, as of July 1, 2017, the MHPS will no longer be accepting parking ticket payments, and all payment will be directed to The City of Medicine, Cashier Counter, located at 580 1st Street SE, Medicine Hat.
