Teamwork credited with recovery of stolen Hanging Baskets in Maple Ridge, B.C.

Maple Ridge, BC – A group of local senior citizens are elated with the Ridge Meadows RCMP and Maple Ridge Fire Department.

On Sunday May 28th sometime between midnight and 5:00 a.m., several hanging baskets were stolen from a senior’s complex in the 23500 Blk. of Dewdney Trunk Road. This was very upsetting for the residents but they did the right thing and called police to report the theft.

On Tuesday May 30, Ridge Meadows RCMP’s Uniformed Community Response Unit ( UCRU) assisted the Maple Ridge Fire Department while they did an inspection under the Fire Services Act of a property in the 23600 blk of Dewdney Trunk Road. UCRU members noticed the beautiful hanging baskets, and were able to link them to the May 28 theft. They seized the baskets and returned them to the rightful owners.

Sergeant Brenda Gresiuk said, “It is not likely any criminal charges will be laid but the outcome and big smiles on the those residents’ faces is what community policing is about. This is a reminder that it is important to report thefts to the police.”
