Teenage Girl Sexually Assaulted in Duncan, B.C., 40-Year-Old Male in Custody

Duncan, BC – On June 8th, 2017, at around 2 p.m. a 14 year old girl was sexually assaulted while walking near York Road and James Street in Duncan. The young girl is a student at Cowichan Secondary School’s Quamichan Campus and was walking towards the school at the time. The girl was confronted by an unknown man who then forced her into a nearby business and began to sexually assault her. The girl broke free from her attacker, fled the area, and reported the incident immediately to school staff.

R.C.M.P. were immediately notified and multiple officers and units were assigned and began to investigate. At about 5:30 p.m., North Cowichan/Duncan R.C.M.P. officers located and arrested a suspect in this case.

Although the girl was not injured, the North Cowichan/Duncan R.C.M.P. are working closely with the family, the School District, and School administration and are ensuring the young girl and her family are getting any support they require after this traumatic incident.
