Traffic stop on Highway #1 in Chilliwack, B.C. nets 98 lbs of suspected marihuana

Chilliwack, BC – A B.C. RCMP Traffic police officer stopped a vehicle on June 7, 2017, on Highway #1 in Chilliwack as the driver was wearing large headphones while travelling 85 km/hr in a 110 km/hr zone. Upon dealing with the driver, the officer had reason to believe there may be indications of drug trafficking.

A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 98 pounds of suspected Marijuana located in three large bags, as well as what is believed to be $1,760 in Canadian currency.

“We are always vigilant for drivers who may be transporting illegal narcotics on our roadways,” said Constable Melissa Wutke, spokesperson for BC RCMP Traffic Services.

The suspected Marijuana and cash were seized and the driver released from the scene pending further police investigation and any court proceeding.
