Winnipeg, Manitoba – On June 11, 2017 at approximately 5:00 p.m. two Winnipeg Police Auxiliary Cadets were patrolling the area of Balmoral St. and Cumberland Ave. when they observed an adult male consuming an alcoholic beverage.
Cadets determined the male was intoxicated and attempted to take him into custody under the Liquor Control Act. The cadets were subsequently threatened and assaulted. The male continued to be combative until General Patrol officers attended and took the male into custody. A search of the male revealed a knife concealed in his waistband.
Uhanis Oliver Lotio, 37-years of Winnipeg has been charged with the following:
- Assault Peace Officer x 2
- Resist Peace Officer
- Possess Weapon
- Carry Concealed Weapon
- Utter Threats x2
- Mischief Under
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
- Consume and Possess Liquor in Public Place
