Saskatoon Air Support Unit Tracks Suspicious Vehicle, 3 People Arrested

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – At 3:30 AM Saturday morning, a Patrol car attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had been observed driving up and down alleys in the Meadow Green neighborhood. When the officers activated their Patrol unit roof lights the vehicle sped away in an effort to evade the police. The Patrol Unit pursued for a few seconds before aborting the pursuit for safety reasons.

The Air Support Unit (ASU) was able to observe the suspect vehicle as it traveled through the west side of the city, eventually coming to a stop in an alley in the 1300 block of Ave E N. Ground units converged on the area and three suspects were taken into custody. Also found during the arrest was a loaded sawed-off .22 rifle and a small amount of methamphetamine.

The investigation is continuing but the three will be facing charges related to evading police, illegal firearms and drugs are pending as well as unrelated arrest warrants. No one was injured in the incident.

The suspects included 2 women, ages 19 and 20 and a 21 year old man all from Saskatoon. All will be held in custody and brought before a Justice of the Peace later today.
