Second North Saskatchewan River Rescue for Emergency Services

Rocky Mountain House, Alberta – On June 17, 2017 the Rocky Mountain House RCMP and Clearwater Fire received a request for assistance on the North Saskatchewan River.

A canoe had capsized near the big horn dam for the second day in a row, causing two adults to be stranded on a logs in the river. Both parties were wearing personal flotation devices.

Fire, EMS, Search and Rescue and RCMP were dispatched. Fire rescue deployed their Zodiac jet boat and ferried the individuals to the main land. RCMP and Search and Rescue met and assisted the individuals when they arrived on shore getting them safely back to their vehicle.

No injuries were reported during this incident.

The water levels on the North Saskatchewan River are extremely high. The public are being asked to stay off the water until the water levels recede.
