Third North Saskatchewan River Rescue for Emergency Services

Rocky Mountain House, Alberta – On June 17, 2017 the Rocky Mountain House RCMP were contacted by the International Emergency Response Coordination Centre reporting that two males had capsized their canoe in the North Saskatchewan River near the Saunders Recreation Area.

The canoe continued down the river and one male was stranded on the north side of the river and one male was stranded on the south side of the river.

RCMP deployed their jet boat and recovered both individuals and returned them to their vehicles. Both parties were wearing personal flotation devices.

The water levels on the North Saskatchewan River are extremely high. The public are being asked to stay off the water until the water levels recede.
