Edmonton Police investigate after woman and dog fatally struck

Edmonton, Alberta – The Edmonton Police Service is investigating a collision after a woman and her dog were fatally struck by a vehicle.

At approximately 7 p.m., on Saturday, June 17, 2017, a green Lexus SUV struck a 57-year-old woman and her dog that were crossing a marked crosswalk at Suder Greens Drive, between Lewis Estates Boulevard and Potter Greens Drive. The woman and her dog died on scene.

The driver, a 42-year-old male, along with his 40-year-old wife and 12-year-old son occupied the SUV.

Alcohol was not considered a factor in this collision. It has yet to be determined whether speed played any role.

No charges have been laid at this time.

The investigation continues.
