Death of Male Found in Kingsgate Mall Parking Lot Deemed Accidental by Vancouver Police

Vancouver, BC – Detectives investigating the death of a man found in a parking lot at Kingsgate Mall yesterday have determined his death was not criminal in nature.

Just after 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning, a man in apparent medical distress was rushed to hospital and died a short time later. Investigators worked with the BC Coroners office, and it appears the man died from an accidental fall.

The deceased has been identified as a 24-year-old man visiting Vancouver from the United Kingdom.


Police are investigating the death of a man in East Vancouver, after he was found in the parking lot of Kingsgate Mall at 370 East Broadway Avenue.

Just after 1:30 a.m., a citizen found the man in apparent medical distress. BC Ambulance and police responded, and he was rushed to hospital where he died.

Investigators are at the scene and will continue to work with the BC Coroners Officer to determine the circumstance that lead to the man’s death.

Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to call police. It is very early in the investigation so there is no additional information to share at this time.
