Kelowna, BC – The Kelowna RCMP continue to work closely with the BC Coroners Service as both agencies continue their investigation into the death of a man discovered deceased in a parking lot early Saturday morning.
On June 24, 2017 at just before 3 am, the Kelowna RCMP responded to an abandoned 911 emergency call received from a cellular phone. Approximate location information was obtained from the cellular phone company provider, which took investigators to the 1900 block of Pacific Court in Kelowna.
Officers searched the immediate area and located a deceased male, along with the cellular phone used to dial 911, in the parking lot of an apartment building in the vicinity.
“RCMP have been unable to determine a clear cause of death during the initial stages of the investigation into the man’s death,” says Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. “As such the Kelowna RCMP Serious Crimes Unit (SCU) has assumed conduct of the investigation which is continuing at this time and will include an autopsy of the deceased.”
“RCMP have positively identified the deceased as a 48-year-old West Kelowna resident,” adds Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. “The Kelowna RCMP Serious Crimes Unit continue to work closely with the BC Coroners Service as both agencies probe the man’s death.”
“In an effort to further our investigation, RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance with the identity of an unknown female, who police believe may possess valuable information,” states Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.
