Saskatoon Evade Police Attempt Ends In Successful K9 Capture

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – At approximately 3:00 a.m., June 24, 2017, Officers attended a residence in the 1500 block of 1st Avenue north after receiving a complaint of suspicious activity. They approached a male in a truck parked behind the home, but before Officers could speak to him, he quickly reversed the truck crashing into a fence. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the suspect vehicle drove off at a high rate of speed and began driving erratically.

Police disengaged and the SPS Air Support Unit monitored the suspect vehicle until it came to a stop in an alley in the 700 block of Avenue N south. A Canine Officer attended and the suspect attempted to flee on foot. The suspect was apprehended by the Police dog and taken into custody after attempting to resist arrest.

MD Ambulance assessed the suspect’s injuries from the dog bite. The suspect was then transported to hospital for further medical attention before being taken to SPS Headquarters.

A 58 year old male was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Marihuana and Methylphenidate, Evade Police, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Breach of Probation and Breach of Recognizance.
