Winnipeg Police Charge 32-Year-Old Male With Attempted Murder

Winnipeg, Manitoba – On June 25, 2017, at approximately 9:50 p.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a report of a male shot in the rear lane of the 500 block of Sherbrook Street. The victim, 36-year-old male, was transported to hospital in critical condition.

Members of the Winnipeg Police Service entered into an investigation, identifying a potential suspect.

On June 26, 2017 at approximately 8:30 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Street Crime Unit conducted at traffic stop in the area of Main St. and Manitoba Ave. where the suspect was located. Officers located and seized a loaded handgun from the vehicle.

Kalvin George HITCHINGS, 32-years-old, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Attempt Murder Using a Firearm
  • Use Firearm During the Commission of an Indictable Offence
  • Careless Use of Firearm
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Possess Weapon
  • Possess Firearm Knowing its Possession in Unauthorized
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
  • Possess Firearm, Restricted Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order X2
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • He has been detained in custody.
