Jasper, Alberta – On June 24th, 2017 at approximately 11:00 PM, Jasper RCMP officers were dispatched to call of an intoxicated female who had allegedly punched a stranger in the face. On scene, police located a highly intoxicated female who was identified as the suspect. The female suspect was arrested for assault and was transported to the Jasper Detachment. While being booked in cells, the female resisted police and got into a physical altercation with two officers. During the altercation, the female suspect struck an officer in the face with her elbow.
As a result of this investigation, Savanna DYKEMA, age 20 of Jasper, has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with one count of assault and one count of assault on a police officer causing bodily harm. She is scheduled to appear at the Jasper Provincial Courthouse on August 10th, 2017.
On June 26th, 2017 at approximately 4:20 PM, Jasper RCMP conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle on Highway 16 for a speeding offence. The male driver was issued a violation ticket for speeding in a construction zone. While being served the ticket, the male became aggressive and assaulted the officer. A physical altercation ensued between the suspect and the officer which resulted in a Taser being deployed by police. The male suspect finally complied and was taken into custody without any further incident.
As a result of this investigation, Sansan HIEN, age 44 of Prince-George, has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with one count of assault on a police officer and one count of resisting arrest. HIEN has also been charged under the Traffic Safety Act with speeding in a construction zone. He is scheduled to appear at the Jasper Provincial Courthouse on July 27th, 2017.
