RCMP investigates fatal collision on Nova Scotia Highway 4

Howie Centre , Nova Scotia – RCMP Cape Breton Traffic Services continue to investigate the cause of the fatal collision on Highway 4 in Howie Centre.

Prior to 10:30 a.m. Friday morning, RCMP responded to a three vehicle collision which resulted in a fatality. The driver of a Toyota Yaris, a 63-year-old woman from Northside East Bay, was transported to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with serious injuries. A passenger in this car, a 90-year-old woman from Big Pond, was pronounced dead at the scene. None of the occupants of the other vehicles required medical attention.

The Highway was closed for several hours while an RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene. The highway reopened prior to 8:30 p.m. last evening.

The investigation is continuing.
