Edmonton Homicide detectives investigating suspicious death following report of shots fired

Edmonton, Alberta – At approximately 1 a.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2017, it was reported to police that shots were fired in the area of 116 Street and Jasper Avenue.

Detectives determined that a male and female were shot in the area before leaving the scene in a black SUV.

The injured male was found dead on the road by emergency personnel working in the area of 109 Street and 104 Avenue. Detectives have determined that the injured male was ejected from the vehicle due to it travelling at a high rate of speed. The female sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Another victim, who was also shot, was located at a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Homicide Detectives continue to investigate. The autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
