Winnipeg Child Severely Injured After Homemade Incendiary Device Explodes

Winnipeg, Manitoba – During the late evening of July 1, 2017, emergency personnel were dispatched to a residence in the East Kildonan area for a report of an injured child.

Upon arrival, an 11-year-old male was located suffering from severe injuries to his hand. The child was transported to hospital in stable condition.

It was been determined that the child had been playing with a homemade incendiary device when it exploded.

During the investigation, a firearm was located within the residence and seized.

A 41-year-old male of Winnipeg has been arrested for:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Breach of Duty Related to Explosives

He has been released on a Promise to Appear.
