Courtenay, B.C. Man Charged with 2nd Degree Murder

Comox Valley, BC – The investigation into the fatal incident that occurred on Friday June 30th is continuing.

The Comox Valley RCMP were called to a residence on the 500 block of 6th Street, in Courtenay, during the early morning hours of June 30th. 25 year old Troy Matthew EMMONS was located deceased, as a result of foul play. A suspect was located and arrested a short time later, several blocks from the scene.

37 year old Jonathan Walter BILLY has been charged with 2nd degree murder and went before a Judicial Justice of the Peace on June 30th. BILLY was held in custody for a court appearance, in Courtenay, on July 4th.

Both parties in this incident were known to each other.

An autopsy has been scheduled for later this week. The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the Comox Valley RCMP General Investigation Section and the Forensic Identification Service.
