Provost RCMP investigate theft of copper wire from oil site

Provost, Alberta – On July 3, 2017, Provost RCMP responded to a report of a theft from an oil site north of Provost. While investigating it was determined copper wire was stolen from the site sometime between 1:00 – 8:00 a.m., on July 3, 2017. The suspect(s) also damaged a transformer while stealing the wire causing approximately $80,000 – $100,000 in damages.

“The theft ofwire is not only dangerous when live, but can cause serious injury or death,” says Corporal Ronald Bumbry, Media Relations Officer, East Alberta District. “The person(s) who committed this crime were gambling with their life.”

Provost RCMP continue their investigation and are requesting the public’s assistance in this matter.
