Body found near Fort Selkirk, Yukon

Pelly Crossing, Yukon – Pelly Crossing RCMP have recovered the body of a man near Fort Selkirk.

Around noon on Wednesday, July 5th, RCMP received a call that a group of civilians had spotted a body in the water near Fort Selkirk.

Pelly Crossing RCMP quickly launched their boat in the river and were on scene by approximately 2:00 p.m.

Yukon RCMP investigators and the Yukon Coroner’s Service are working to confirm the identity of the person whose remains were located. More information will be released once his identity has been confirmed and his family has been notified.

An autopsy will be conducted at Vancouver General Hospital on Friday, July 7th.

The investigation is continuing.
