Hinton RCMP Investigate Head-on Collision Involving Alcohol on Highway 16

Hinton, Alberta – Hinton RCMP continue to investigate a head on collision that sent three people to hospital in a collision involving alcohol over the long weekend.

On Sunday, July 2, 2017 at approximately 11:00 p.m., Hinton RCMP were dispatched to a collision on Highway 16 just east of the Jasper National Park gates. Investigation determined that a westbound sedan struck an eastbound transport truck in a head on fashion causing extensive damage to the sedan.

Two adult passengers of the sedan were sent to hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released. The driver and lone occupant of the transport truck was not injured. The driver of the sedan was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this collision.

Several Criminal Code charges are pending against the adult driver of the sedan.
