Penticton RCMP week in review 2017-07-04

Penticton, BC – The following incidents occurred over the past week in Penticton:


2017-9453 At 1350 pm, Penticton RCMP received a report from a 46 year old male that he had been the victim of an attempted robbery overnight while walking on Windsor Avenue. He was bear sprayed but nothing was taken from him. The suspect is described as a 20 year old male wearing all black with a white bandana covering his face.

2017-9457 Police received a report that over the weekend a fenced compound was broken into on Vees Drive. Suspects stole a Mercruiser Bravo 3 stern drive with two counter rotating stainless steel props off of a 1998 Bayliner.


2017-9540 and 2017-9541 At 9 pm, it was reported to the Penticton RCMP that a 1998 Dodge Ram pickup was stolen from a Windsor Avenue parking lot. At 930 pm, members of the Targeted Enforcement Unit stopped a vehicle without insurance on Green Mountain Road. The 28 year old female driver was found to be impaired and papers for the stolen Dodge were found in this vehicle. Police were able to locate the stolen Dodge pickup the following day on Lilac Lane with minor damage. The female is facing charges under the motor vehicle and the criminal code.


2017-9612 At 630 pm, Penticton RCMP received a report of a stolen motorcycle. The purple Harley Davidson with British Columbia license plate W63179 was stolen from a Carmi Avenue address in the previous 24 hours.

2017-9631 At 10 pm, a 2007 Toyota Yaris with an Alberta license plate was stolen from the Ramada Inn parking lot. It was located without damage the following day after police received a call from a member of the Penticton Indian Band who had found it with the keys west of Penticton.


2017-9789 and 2017-9795 At 515 am, Police responded to a break-in to an equipment building at a winery on North Naramata Road. A flatbed trailer was loaded with ATV’s, a welder and other equipment. After receiving a call from a Naramata resident, the flatbed was recovered in the 1700 block of Naramata Road. Two male suspects left the trailer in a black Ford pickup truck. Items that are still reported missing from the winery include: a Millermatic 251 welder, a chainsaw, a weed whacker and hand tools.

2017-9793 At 625 am, Police responded to an accident on Gahan Avenue where a brown Acura had driven through a fence and the occupants had fled on foot. The male driver was located and issued a violation ticket for failing to remain at the scene of an accident.


2017-9851 At 220 am, Penticton RCMP received a report of a break-in to the Centex gas station in Okanagan Falls. The gas station has been closed due to a fire. The back door had been kicked in and copper wiring was reported to have been stolen.

2017-9901 At 10 pm, Police were called for a vehicle theft from a residence in the 400 block of Winnipeg Street. The 2014 white Mitsubishi was stolen as the owner watched from her residence window. At 450 am, Police located the vehicle in a parking lot off of Government Street with two occupants. Both males were arrested for possession of stolen property.
