Lethbridge, Alberta – Lethbridge Police, Alberta Sheriffs and RCMP issued a total of 202 tickets for traffic and liquor violations during the 2017 Street Machine Weekend.
The most prevalent offences were speeding, stunting and distracted driving. In addition, police issued 10 alcohol-related vehicle suspensions, seized four vehicles related to suspended driving offences, executed 12 outstanding warrants and arrested one person for breach of release conditions.
There was also one minor collision on Mayor Magrath Drive Friday night that was quickly resolved.
The above numbers are typical for Street Machine weekends. 2016 was notably lower, however that is attributed to officers dealing with multiple impaired drivers, collisions and assaults.
Police thank the local Street Wheelers Car Club for their cooperation and ongoing efforts to keep this event safe for all to enjoy.
